Royal Pharmaceutical Society Honours 2022

Alderley Park, UK – 29 November 2022

Anna Maxwell MPharmS has been appointed a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in the RPS November 2022 honours.

Maxwellia founder and CEO, Anna Maxwell, achieved RPS Fellowship for her distinction in the practice and profession of pharmacy. Being appointed a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society is one of the highest accolades that can be paid to a member, and as Fellowships are based on nominations from members, it also signifies the high esteem in which members are held by their peers.

Anna has over 35 years working in community pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sector. She is a pioneer of pharmacy medicine innovation, driven by her vision to broaden the role of the pharmacist by creating new, highly valuable self-care categories, that empower pharmacy teams to treat more people for more conditions in the self-care setting.

Her impressive career in pharmacy and pharmaceuticals has enabled Anna to build on extensive industry experience, add value to the companies she has served, and continue to drive innovation in the pharmacy sector.

Reflecting on her new appointment, Anna said “I am delighted to have been appointed a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, an organisation that shares my passion of putting pharmacy at the forefront of healthcare. To sit amongst my esteemed peers in the industry is a real privilege, and I will use this opportunity to continue to lead and support positive change across the pharmacy profession.”

Supporting Anna’s Fellowship nomination, former Well Pharmacy Superintendent, Janice Perkins explained why she felt Anna was worthy of the appointment, “I admire Anna’s tenacity, her drive, and her vision for the POM to P market, and ultimately supporting the role of Pharmacists in Community Pharmacy. Her actions have brought so much credit to the profession.”

Anna was also supported by fellow pharmacist Thorrun Govind who said, “Anna’s mission to broaden the role of the pharmacist with OTC self-care products helps people to access the medicines that they need when they need them and ease the pressure on GP waiting lists.”

Anna’s recognition in the industry comes at an exciting period of growth and development for Maxwellia, as the business focuses on bringing a range of new self-care medicines to market in 2023.
